Berkeley Project was the first community that embraced me in Cal and that changed my career track. The vibe of both inside and outside of the committee is always supportive, warm, and kind. I’m thankful for being on BP since my first semester of college, and I want to pass the spirit of kindness that BP stands for along to more people.

Year: Senior

Major: Integrative Biology

Hi! My name is Karen and I’m co-volunteer director with William. I’m a third year, Integrative Biology major. I first joined BP my freshman year and loved it. I did a year in Volunteer Committee & then a year in Event Planning. BP is like fine wine… With age, it just gets better! Joining Berkeley Project has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in college, hands-down. From committee member to director, I’ve been fortunate to be able to meet so many cool people and get close to them. BP really is like family. But the best thing about BP is being able to make a real impact on our community!

Co-Site Planning

Year: Junior

Major: SED

Hi, I'm Ashton! I'm a second-year majoring in Sustainable Environmental Design, with a minor in City Planning. It can be easy to view the place we live in simply as the backdrop for our individual lives, without ever truly appreciating, experiencing, or contributing to it. I love Berkeley Project because it provides an outlet for people to lift their heads up, step out of their own interests, and interact with the urban community they are inherently a part of.

Hi I'm Karen! I'm a second year majoring in Integrative Biology. I volunteered for BP Day for the past three semesters, and now I'm Co-Marketing Director! I originally joined to volunteer for a good cause, but I stayed for the dedicated people and a great cause!! Berkeley Project is built on the passion that volunteers, committee members, and core alike share for serving the Berkeley community. It's amazing to see the impact of one person or group on a site, and to think that it's happening all over the city.

Year: Senior

Major: Haas and Media Studies

Community service has always been a really big part of my life. I want to give back to the community that has given me so much support and so many great memories. Service to me means helping a community that may not necessarily be able to help themselves at the moment. The ultimate goal is to provide resources and service to a community so they can reach the point where they no longer require external service.
